Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & transfer to Kisoro, Uganda
The guide will also meet you at Kigali Airport and then will immediately brief you about the itinerary. After you will also start your journey to the town of Kisoro in western Uganda and this is the best place to access the section of the virunga National park in the DRC of Congo, where you will also be tracking the mountain gorillas in the next morning. The guide will also take you across Rwanda/ Uganda border and then drive to your accommodation in Kisoro.

Day 2: Transfer to Virunga National park and do gorilla trekking
Enjoy breakfast and then the guide will drive you to the Uganda /DRC border which is only 30 minutes distance. After the crossing, you will then go to Virunag National park headquarters and then report for mountain gorilla briefing. The ranger will take you to the forest to start your search for the gorilla group assigned to you. This will take you many hours to locate them, you are also assigned and allowed only 1 hour with the gorillas.

Day 3: Transfer to Mount Nyiragongo
Enjoy breakfast and then the guide will take you to the base of mount Nyiragongo in the preparation for your climb the next day. You will also travel through the parts of the Virunga National park which is a rain forest that teams with the wildlife and the birds,
Day 4: Ascend Mount Nyiragongo
Enjoy your breakfast so early and then you will be taken by the guide to the park headquarters so as to register for the mount Nyiragongo hike. And after you will be assigned the local guide and the porters. In case you need equipment’s carried, you will then start your climb up the trail and the hike up the mount will take between 4 to 6 hours and this will also depend on your climbing abilities. The wildlife and vegetation that you will meet during the hike is so nice and there are also cabanas at the summit were you will rest when you arrive at the top of the mountain and were
Seeing the volcanoes from the rim at different times of the day and the night is so interesting in full darkness.

Day 5: Departure
Enjoy breakfast and then pack all your things, then start your descent of mount Nyiragongo , you will also reunite with the guide who will then take you to the town of Goma, on the north end of lake Kivu for a city tour. This will also give you a chance of the fathom the disaster of 2002 when the mountain Nyiragongo erupted and destroyed the town of Goma , cars , building as well as lives of people. Then you will transfer to Kigali Rwanda for your flight.
