This 4 Days gorilla safari takes you to Kahuzi Biega National Park in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), another home of the endangered gorillas in Africa. The Democratic Republic of Congo hosts both lowland and mountain gorillas. The lowland gorillas are also found in Kahuzi Biega national park and there are two habituated gorilla groups for tourism visits.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali- Rwanda
Upon your arrival, you will transfer to your hotel in Kigali, the early arrivals can take the optional tour of Kigali city and the surrounding areas.
Overnight at Hotel Des Mile Collines
Day 2: Drive to Bukavu –DR Congo
In the morning, you will be picked by the guide from your hotel in Kigali and the drive south wards to Cyangugu border on the way to Bukavu in DRC. You will also have a stopover in Butare were you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza as well as the genocide memorial site. Have lunch and then continue on a scenic journey to Bukavu with the wonderful views of the hills in Rwanda through the tropical forest of Nyungwe national park and a view of Lake Kivu.
Dinner and overnight at CoCo Lodge (Luxury)/Orchid safari Lodge (Mid Range)/Hotel Horizon (Budget).
Day 3: Trekking the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi
So early in the morning after enjoying breakfast, you will take 1 and half hour drive to Kahuzi Biega National park to have a briefing about the dos and the don’ts of trekking the eastern Lowland gorillas in the jungle and after enter into the forest to search for the primates and this activity can also last for 2 to 6 hours depending on their movements once you find them, you will be given 1 hour with them to allow you take photos and the videos. After tracking, you will return to the hotel for an overnight and dinner. Late in the afternoon you return to your hotel in Bukavu.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali
Early in the morning after enjoying breakfast, you will then drive back to Kigali crossing via Cyangugu border. Reach Kigali in the afternoon.
