Murchison Falls National Park, gazetted in 1952 is 350 kms from Kampala. It is the largest park in Uganda covering on area of over 3,840 sq kms. The park derives its name from Murchison Falls where the mighty Nile explodes through a narrow gorge to become a placid river. Murchison Falls National Park is one of the most famous for its scenic beauty and high concentration of game.

Detailed Trip Itinerary: TEA U – M3:

3 days (2 nights) Murchison Falls National Park Safari.

Day 1:             Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park

Depart Kampala at 8:00 am and head to Murchison Falls National Park via Bombo. Stop for lunch in Masindi prior to proceeding Murchison falls National Park through Kichumbanyobo gate. Murchison Falls National with 76 Mammal and 450 recorded bird species respectively provides perfect opportunity for you to see some of the greatest concentrations of game in – The Pearl of Africa.

Over night stay at Nile Safari Lodge or cross by ferry to Paraa Safari Lodge / Chobe Safari Lodge on the northern bank of River Nile (LD).

Day 2:             Murchison Falls National Park

Start the day with an early morning game drive on the Buligi, Albert or Queens tracks north of the river Nile where you will look out for those animals that are unique to the African Savannah like Giraffe, Antelope, Lion, Elephant and with luck the elusive Leopard.

In the afternoon, take on a launch cruise on the great River Nile. The cruise takes you to the Bottom of the awe inspiring Murchison Falls where the River Nile hurls itself in appalling convulsions through a narrow crevice and plunges 130 feet in one breath taking leap.

Enroute, look out for huge crocodiles, schools of hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of water birds like herons, cormorants, ducks, bee-eaters, kingfishers, skimmers, fish eagle and the rare shoebill.  Over night stay at Nile Safari Lodge / Paraa Safari Lodge / Chobe Safari Lodge (LD).

Day 3:             Murchison Falls National Park – Kampala

On this day before you leave the park, take a drive to the “Top of the falls” for a breathtaking sight of the raging Nile as it forces its way through a rocky gap barely six meters wide. Proceed to Kampala with lunch enroute.
